5 Safety tips you MUST follow when you're traveling after Lockdown

Covid’s second wave has been showing its brutal face affecting millions of people all over the world. Despite that, people have started living with it, accepting it as the “new normal”. Many have been spiraling back to work and some even started traveling. But we have to remember that the virus still exists and is infecting people even while you’re reading this. So, continue to follow all the necessary safety precautions while carrying out any of your endeavors. Here are some travel safety tips you should follow:

  1. Avoid traveling if you haven’t vaccinated:

This is for your own safety. Unless you’ve vaccinated yourself do not travel to other states or even cities. Many inter-state and all international travels already have vaccinations as a compulsory prerequisite. Even if not required, refrain from traveling without vaccinating. In case it is an emergency and you haven’t vaccinated, isolate yourself for 2 weeks upon arrival. This protects you and the people around you.

  1. Double masking

Wear an N95 Mask and a surgical mask over it, or a cloth mask over a surgical mask. If you feel suffocating with double masks, then wear a face shield instead of the second mask. Stay masked, whenever you are outside. Avoid eating out, opt for take-outs as much as possible. Nevertheless, dining-in is not a big risk if you've been vaccinated. But, you can avoid it if you have to make contact with those who haven't been vaccinated. Remember, vaccination helps your body to fight against the virus but it doesn’t stop the infection from happening at all. So, if you get infected, you could spread it even after vaccinating.

  1. Pick the right stay option

When you choose a hotel or resort to stay make sure they follow all the precautionary protocols. Some of these include covid-specific cleaning and disinfection of rooms, contactless room service and dining, cashless payments, and regular temperature checks. 1. Safety during transit

Travel by air is by far considered the safest mode of travel given all their extensive disinfection methods. But if you’re traveling by any other means avoid using air-conditioned vehicles. Ensure that the mode of transport is properly ventilated. Wear a mask at all times. Do not touch places like handrails, door handles, window rims, and any other frequently touched place. Refrain from touching your mouth, nose, or eyes and sanitize your hands regularly. Wear gloves if possible.

  1. Avoid crowds and maintain social distancing

Crowds are the most dangerous forms of spread and almost make the whole process of contact tracing impossible. Maintain at least 2m meters or double arm distance between the people around you. Enter into places only if they provide scope for social distancing.

These are tough times but we can get through this together. We do not have to fear the virus but just have to be cautious. Being ignorant will only affect you and your loved ones. Follow these safety tips for a safe journey!
